CHARACTERISTICS
This clone contains all the excellent qualities of Fuji. The fruits present uniform fruit size, color is striped and brilliant (ruby red) also on the shadow side of the apple. This mutant is striped with intense over color on 85-90% of the fruit surface. The strong growth of the tree and the susceptibility to alternal bearing requires a careful treatment of the plants (especially for pruning and thinning).

Flesh: the flesh is juicy and crunchy, more sugar than other Jonagold clones

Harvest time: Mid-September
Storability: very good storage capacity

CHARACTERISTICS

Granny Smith

THE TREE
Vigor: medium/strong, first upright branches then the branches will be flat
Flowering: Medium early, good pollinator
Pollinators: Golden, Idared, Red Delicious

THE FRUIT
Size: medium to large
Color: deep green, at full maturity light green to yellow green (sometimes unwanted red blush)
Skin: solid, waxy and slightly wavy, big bright lenticels
Shape: round and truncated-conical
Flesh: white, firm, crisp, very juicy, high acidity, slightly sweet, slightly aromatic

HARVEST AND STORAGE
Harvest time: 2 weeks after Golden Del., not susceptible to pre-harvest fruit fall , not susceptible to bruising
Storability: very good;
ripe for consumption 1 month after harvest

CHARACTERISTICS

Idared

THE TREE
Vigor: weak to medium, hanging fruit-branches
Flowering: early, very good pollinator
Pollinators: varieties with early to mid-early flowing-time as Granny Smith and Jonathan

THE FRUIT
Size: large to very large
Color: ground color is green-yellow, on the sunny side of the fruit light to dark red over color.
Skin: smooth, lenticels as fine points without russet
Shape: round (lightly flat)
Flesh: white, juicy, firm flesh, low sugar content; only on warm cultivation sites well balanced sugar / acid content and good taste

HARVEST AND STORAGE
Harvest time: end of September, not susceptible to bruising, not susceptible to pre-harvest fruit fall
Storability: very good storability, a little bit susceptible to Jonathan spot
Maturity for consumption: from December to April

CHARACTERISTICS
Very high and regular bearing; early production; susceptible to mildew; low susceptibility to scab; susceptible to autumnal frost

 


 

Pinova (s)

Pinova is a cross between Golden Delicious and Clivia. Origin is Dresden – Pillnitz (1986).

Flesh: Pinova (s) has a very firm and juicy flesh. The taste is pleasant sweet and sour

Storability: excellent storage capacity; in CA storage stable till the summer months

CHARACTERISTICS
Pinova (s) has an inviting appearance, which distinguishes it from other bicolored varieties. Storage can be done without loss of whole quality (taste) till the summer months.

 


 

Fuji 6578 (s) mema ®

ORIGIN:
mema FUJI ® 6578 (s) has been discovered in CALDONAZZO / Trentino in a Fuji plant.
Johann Huber could secure the rights of this Fuji-mutant on 2003.

Be noticed a feather with earlier intensive colored fruits.
Red-purple washed over color  and a low growth is the characteristics of this clone.
The virus-free clone of mema FUJI ® 6578 (s) was selected.
First virusfree experimental trees were planted for observation.

Braeburn 78 (s) mema ®

ORIGIN:
mema® BRAEBURN 78 (s) is a direct mutant of Braeburn standard and was found in Appiano/South Tyrol by Johann Huber on 1991.

FRUIT: very intensive red over color with pronounced stripes.
The fruit is built high and is lightly acidic-aromatic like Braeburn standard.
In 2005 was planted 9.670 trees of mema® BRAEBURN 78(s) at Verona.
Low regression and good coloration animated to further the propagation and selection of this clone. Since 2008 mema® BRAEBURN 78(s) is virusfree.
